On 1st October 2008, Planet Out changed the technology used to deliver gay.com chat. As a result ChatBerry does not currently work with gay.com . Although work is in hand to provide connection to the new service, there is no date for this to be available. Existing subscribers to ChatBerry are advised to cancel their subscriptions during the period that ChatBerry does not work with gay.com.

ChatBerry provides complete mobile chat access to gay.com using BlackBerry hand helds.

ChatBerry allows you to chat in many rooms or many private chats simultaneously, you can see who is in a room, view user profiles, initiate and accept private chat sessions, all from your BlackBerry handheld.

Chatberry allows you to see thumbnail views of each of the users in a room, as well as seeing summaries of their user profiles. Chatberry also has a built in 'bot-guard' to prevent you being troubled by web-robots.

You can see when your buddies are on-line, and be alerted by a beep or vibration when your buddies join and leave. Alerts can be set for when users join rooms, or when someone actually says something in a room, or when someone requests a private conversation.

ChatBerry allows you to add contacts to your buddy & hot list from your BlackBerry, and to see those that have you on their hot list, when they are on line.

Chatberry provides full access to the main features of gay.com from your BlackBerry, letting you chat from anywhere. ChatBerry also allows you to chat on gaydar with similar functionality, although not all the features of gaydar are available from ChatBerry, yet.

ChatBerry is designed to work with all service providers, but does require a direct internet connection. Some service providers, and for some packages, only provide access to the internet via WAP, which is not suitable for ChatBerry.

Chatberry runs on both personal and corporate BlackBerrys. Corporate blackberrys are not normally able to make connections to servers on the internet, but you can still use chatberry with your company provided blackberry using the tunnel server.

Chatberry is continually being developed, you are allowed to download and use the software on the understanding that it may be faulty and/or incomplete.

ChatBerry is subject to a monthly subscription for the use of the software. It may be used on a trial basis for upto 15 minutes at a time.

Chatberry is provided as is with no warranty implied or explicit, tiggit accept no responsibility for loss of information, other actual loss or consequential loss through the use of this software.

News

Version 0.9.2

Version 0.9.2 is now available. This version provides connectivity to gaydar as well as gay.com, and some minor bug fixes.

Full details of all the updates applied to each version can be found here

New Tunnel Server

There is a new tunnel server available. All tunnel users should upgrade to version 0.8.9 (or later) and change the tunnelServer setting on the advanced panel to www.chatberry.com

Users that need to use a numeric server address should be able to use www.chatberry.com in place of the sequence of numbers.

There have been a number of problems with the hosting provider for the new tunnel which have resulted in service interruptions over the past two weeks. The tunnel has now been moved to a new hosting provider and servicability appears to be a lot better.

T-Mobile Users

The problems connecting through the T-Mobile BIS have now been resolved. ChatBerry now works on T-Mobile US, using the tunnel.

T-Mobile users no longer need to enter the IP address of the tunnel server. All users should change their tunnelServer setting to www.chatberry.com
